Not long ago, before doing a seminar in Green Bay, Wisconsin, I stopped by Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers football team.

What a history that team and that community have together. It was on August 11, 1919, that Curly Lambeau and George Calhoun got together not far from the current stadium, on Cherry Street in downtown Green Bay, and decided to form a football team.

In order to help out with the cost of the jerseys and other equipment, it was the company that Curly Lambeau worked for as a clerk, for $250 a month, that came through. The Indian Packing Company gave them the money for the jerseys and the other equipment that was needed. Thus the name “The Packers”.

Since 1919, this team, through ups and downs, has succeeded in an amazing way. The team has won 12 National Football League championships. They have 21 members in the Football Hall of Fame.

Throughout their history, including the work of the famed coach Vince Lombardi, they have created a history of excellence.

This is the only team in the National Football League that is totally owned by the people of Green Bay and of the world. Many of the residents of that city are stockholders in the Green Bay Packers.

I believe the Packers have succeeded so much over the years because they have strived for excellence. And that’s what this message is all about. For all of us to do a little more to strive for excellence every day of our lives.

My mother said, “I don’t have time not to do it well the first time.” What if we made our best effort in every situation the first time? Whether it’s in our relationships, finances, career, or in our health – to strive for excellence the first time.

What a big difference that could make in all of our lives.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. As they do so well at Lambeau Field, I see it in you, you are a Champion!

Your Declaration of No Worry

While on a recent trip to Washington, D.C., where I did a series of seminars, I visited the Jefferson Memorial.

This amazing memorial is in honor of an amazing man who was instrumental in the birth of the United States of America.

Thomas Jefferson was well known for the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. He also sponsored the Lewis and Clark Expedition that found the Northwest Passage. He did some amazing things.

The reason I want to talk about Thomas Jefferson is the fact that he authored The Declaration of Independence. I think we each need to author our own Declaration of Independence.

Some of us, during these trying times, whether it be financial challenges or maybe there are health challenges, have become prone to worry – a little too much worry.

My feeling is that stress is the number one killer in this country. If we can get control of worry, I think that might help us a lot to be able to open our eyes to opportunities and to improve our situation.

Dale Carnegie wrote a wonderful book called “How to Stop Worrying and Start Living”. In it he said that we must live in day tight compartments.

Consider as if you were living in a room with a door behind you and one in front of you. The door behind you is to yesterday and it is locked permanently. The door ahead of you is to tomorrow and it does not open up until midnight tonight.

So, all we’ve got is today – this very room. And, if you’re worried about something, then write down what is the worst that could happen. Just write down what is the worst that could happen.

Then write down what you would do to improve on that if it did happen. Then you’ll realize that you’ve got a solution. Carnegie said that, by just writing it down and looking at it, that will help you to relax.

Again, he said to live in day tight compartments. The question is: “What can I do about it today?”

May I suggest that you now use Carnegie’s idea and declare your own independence from worry. I believe that the following affirmation, stated out loud the first thing every morning and the last thing each night, for at least 30 days, will help.

If you were totally confident about your life and your future, would you worry about anything?

The Balance of Your Power

Ever since my family immigrated to the United States from Israel in 1956, I have felt a great sense of patriotism for the country.

Whenever I visit Washington, D.C., I am always moved by the history and symbolism of the nation’s capitol. That was the case on a recent visit to the area as I conducted a number of seminars.

The Capitol Building is one of those historical sites that is grand and enduring. Situated on a slight elevation, the Capitol Building is one mile away from the Washington Monument and 2.2 miles from the Lincoln Memorial.

The significance of the Capitol Building is that in 1791 the United States had no capitol. At that time, Congress met in eight different cities throughout the Northeast.

It was decided that there should be a 10 mile square area, either out of Virginia or out of Maryland, that would end up being the Capitol of the United States of America.

The portion that was chosen was the 10 mile square area in Maryland and the Capitol Building was begun. It was built and then it was burned down. It was then re-built and enlarged.

The message from the U.S. Capitol Building, for you and me, is that on one side is the Senate and on the other side is the House of Representatives. It’s just like our minds. There are two portions to our minds – the positive and the negative.

And, if we don’t watch the balance between the two, the negative side will naturally have more power. Because, for whatever reason, it’s easier to be negative.

All of us, including me, have to work at balancing just like the Congress has to balance power in the nation’s Capitol. We have to balance between the negative and the positive sides of our minds.

It doesn’t mean we disregard whatever is not going well in our lives. It’s just a matter of re-focusing toward the positive.

So, if you look at something that didn’t work out right in your life, how about using a line that says, “That may be so, but here is what I can do about it.”

What I’m saying is let’s work with a positive affirmation every day so that we can balance and move toward the positive more than we do toward the negative. Just like balancing the house of power in Washington.

Focusing on the positive. Now that is a capitol idea!

Taking Control Of Your Power

Recently, when conducting a series of seminars in the Washington, D.C., area, I stopped by to see The White House.

It was in 1790 that President George Washington decided that the federal government would reside in the District of Columbia. He worked with the French architect Pierre L’Enfante to design the city and specifically to choose the site at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for The White House, the President’s house.

The cornerstone was laid in 1792 and the first President to move into The White House was John Adams with his wife Abigail in the year 1800.

The White House symbolizes POWER all over the world. It symbolizes real POWER.

Too many people in this day and age, with financial challenges, health challenges, and so forth, feel like they have lost their power.

It is my feeling that power does not reside outside of us. It doesn’t matter what the government is doing, what the weather is doing, what the economy is doing, the real power resides in our mind – the 6 inches between our ears.

Do you realize that is the only thing we have total control over? Our thoughts. So, it’s not what happens. It’s how we react. That’s what my mother always told me: “It’s not what happens. It’s how we react. The choice is the reaction.”

May I suggest that you turn those thoughts inwardly and declare positive affirmations of the way you want to see the world. Chances are that you will declare and receive more of the good things that could be coming towards you.

I believe that declaring the following affirmation, the first thing every morning and the last thing each night, for at least 30 days, will begin to help most anyone to re-take their power.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you – You are a Champion! Have a powerful day!

Taking Care of Your Business

After a recent seminar in Memphis, Tennessee, I stopped by Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. It’s on Elvis Presley Boulevard, not far from the Memphis Airport.

Across the street from the palatial grounds of the home are parked Elvis’ two airplanes. The larger one is an impressive four engine jet named The Lisa Marie, after Elvis’ daughter.

On the tail of that airplane are the following three letters: TCB. That stood for “Taking Care of Business”.

No matter what Elvis was doing, whether preparing for a concert or preparing for a movie, he always took care of business. Meaning he took care of the most important details and he did them well.

What if you and I took that theory and applied it to every day of our lives? What if we asked ourselves, the first thing every morning, “What is the most valuable thing I should be doing today? (Repeat) What is the most valuable thing I should be doing today?” And then go ahead and do it.

And, if you get distracted, come back to it. As long as you get that single most valuable thing done today, I believe that you’ll be amazed with how much you can accomplish over time.

When you do that, you’ll by applying Elvis Presley’s theory of “Taking Care of Business”.

You are unique. You are special. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you, you are a Champion!

Do You Have A Someday

Since words are previews of things to come, I got to thinking the other day about the importance of words.

I was sitting on the porch of my apartment in Newport Beach, California, and glancing out on some beautiful surroundings. There are so many trees in my complex that the greenery creates a unique level of peacefulness.

Sometimes there are no words to describe the peacefulness that I feel here.

And, speaking about words, there is one word that all of us use, and I’ve been as guilty as anyone in the past of using this one word too much, and it doesn’t really help us.

The one word I’m talking about is SOMEDAY. We use it too much.

In my apartment complex there is a beautiful hiking trail. “Someday I’ll go take a hike on that trail.”

A couple of buildings over there is a exercise room. “Someday I will go over there and exercise regularly.”

“Someday I’ll get a hold of my finances and I’ll pay in cash and I’ll save some money. Someday I’ll pay off my debts.”

In my office, there is a calendar. I checked and I did not see a day of the week on that calendar called “Someday.” There is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. There is no “Someday.”

So, when we use the word “Someday,” the signal to the subconscious mind is that there is no commitment. Since there is no day of the week called “Someday,” there is no need for a commitment to a goal. Thus, there probably won’t be any achievement of an important goal.

May I suggest that we change from using the word “Someday” to using specific words like Today, This Week, This Month, and This Year.

So, instead of saying, “Someday I’ll take a hike down that trail in my complex,” how about “I’ll take a hike right after I finish writing this newsletter.”

And “Tomorrow morning, first thing, I’m going to go over to the exercise room in my complex and I’m going to exercise for 30 minutes on the treadmill.”

And “This week I will set a monthly budget that I will work toward so I can spend less than I earn.”

And “This month I will begin to pay off my debts.”

And “This year I will lose 20 pounds.”

The mind responds to specific words: Today, This Week, This Month, This Year. So, I encourage you, for things that you have wanted to change about you, to start using the words Today, This Week, This Month, This Year instead of Someday.

I believe that you’ll be amazed how much more productive you will be.

So, before I go off on my hike down the trail, which I’ve committed to you to do, let’s declare together that we no longer have a Someday on our calendar.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you – you are a Champion! Have a powerful day!

Where’s Your Ticket Taking You

After a seminar in Bonita Springs, Florida, I found myself waiting for my flight back to the West Coast. I was at the Ft. Myers Airport.

It dawned on me that an airplane ticket has a lot to do with goal setting.

If I were to walk up to the ticket counter at the airport, put down some money, and ask for a ticket, the agent would probably say, “Where to?”

If I were to say, “It doesn’t matter. Just give me a ticket.”

The agent would, once more, say, “Where to?”

I would not get a ticket because I didn’t specify where I wanted to go. On the other hand, if I know exactly where I want to go, like that day in Ft. Myers, I get a ticket.

Life is the same way. If we don’t identify specific goals, we’re not going to get a ticket to go anywhere we like. We have to write down specific goals, exactly where we want to go, and then life will give us a ticket to the right destination.

If you don’t have written goals for the next 12 months, then I suggest you write down some specific goals that you want to accomplish in the next year. If you don’t believe the goals you’ve written down, then lower them a little bit.

What you see is what you’ll get.

And then identify a specific reward as to what you’re going to do for yourself once you accomplish certain goals. Then I suggest you get a picture of that reward, put it on a card about the size of a business card, laminate it and carry it with you everywhere you go.

My picture happens to be of an island off of Belize, in Central America, called Caye Chapel. I’ve been there. I was flown there by a Houston company to speak for all of their employees. It is just incredible.

Caye Chapel is about a 10 minute flight out of Belize City. It’s a half mile wide by one and a half miles in length. Only 40 guests at any one time. The food is exquisite. The snorkeling is amazing. The fishing is fun. And the atmosphere is so very peaceful.

So, I carry a picture of Caye Chapel with me because that’s my next reward. I’m going back to Caye Chapel. On the other side of my card I’ve got very specific affirmations of things I want to accomplish in the next 12 months.

Can you see the value of doing this? I have a picture of my reward on one side of my card and specific written goals on the other side. Get one of these for yourself and watch what it will do for your future.

You’ll be able to walk up to the counter of life and get a ticket to literally anywhere you want to go.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you. You are a Champion!

How’s Your Discipline

Between recent speaking events in Delaware and Maryland, I took some time to stop by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis. The town of Annapolis, on Chesapeake Bay, is a quaint and beautiful community.

It is not only the State Capitol of Maryland, but also the home of the Naval Academy. Established in 1845, this is the second oldest military academy in the United States, only second after West Point.

I’ve known a number of people who attended Annapolis and established themselves with enviable records in the military.

One thing I learned from the graduates of Annapolis, as I’m sure is the case at other military academies, is that at Annapolis they teach discipline. Because, without discipline, you cannot have a military force and you cannot have order.

The same thing applies in our own personal lives. If we don’t have discipline, then our life is in disarray.

So, this message is about establishing some discipline in various areas of our lives.

If you don’t have enough discipline when it comes to money, something simple that you can do is lower your standard of living a little bit, save that money, and pay off some debts. Also, pay in cash. That establishes some discipline when it comes to money.

Concerning your health, I know that the cadets at Annapolis keep in great shape because they exercise regularly. I don’t like exercising any more than you do, but having had a heart condition in the past I realize that it’s important.

So, whether I like it or not, I do a treadmill two or three times a week for 30 minutes to keep in shape. That is my form of discipline when it comes to exercise.

If it’s discipline in your relationship that you need to improve, take the time to go out and spend special time on a regular basis with someone special in your life. Whether it’s Date Night or whatever you may choose to do regularly, establish some discipline and make that relationship important to you.

If it’s a career discipline you need to improve, then look at what you’re doing in your life and look for ways to improve wherever you are or look for other ways to establish a new career.

I believe that you’re now establishing some very important discipline in your life because you are special, you are unique, you are destined for greatness. I see it in you – you are a Champion!

Have a powerful day!

Are You Programming Yourself For Success

By Boaz · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 8th, 2010

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

On a recent speaking trip to Rochester, New York, I had an opportunity to visit the George Eastman House. Yes, the George Eastman who created Kodak – the films, the cameras and so much more.

Just a few miles south of downtown Rochester is a beautiful house, where he lived, which has been turned into a museum.

The reason I’m talking about George Eastman is the following: I believe that, when he created his company, and developed certain unique processes for developing film, creating the Instamatic camera, and so forth, I believe he programmed his brain, his mind, for success.

And that’s why he achieved such worldwide acclaim.

But, too many people, and I’ve been as guilty of it in the past as anyone, are programming their minds for failure. Whenever we go around saying things that don’t help us, we’re programming our minds for failure.

Examples: “I can’t get any breaks. I can’t get my health to be in good shape. I can’t get ahead with money. I can’t get out of debt. I can’t start a business of my own.”

Those are all thoughts that go into the brain and program us for failure. Then, when we see any indication to prove one of those thoughts, we say, “Look, I told you that I never get any breaks.” And that is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

So, no matter where you are in life right now, no matter what your condition is with you health, your finances, or your relationships, you have the power to change those things for the better by starting to declare what you want and stopping to declare what you don’t want.

It’s like putting good software into your computer. You’re going to get good results. Bad software ends up in bad results.

If you think that you have been saying things to yourself that keep you from moving ahead, and thus programming your mind for failure, let’s turn those thoughts around.

It’s just a matter of turning certain thoughts around. If you want to get out of debt, just write an affirmation that says, “It’s easy for me to get out of debt.”

If you want to save money, “It’s easy for me to save money.” Want to create a great relationship? “I create great relationships in my life.” If it’s business, “I’m able to succeed in business.”

Just read those affirmations the first thing every morning and the last thing every night. Don’t analyze them. Just read them out loud. Give me at least 30 days of you programming your mind for success and I believe you’ll be amazed.

Incredible things happen when we program our minds in the right direction. And I think you’re going to be doing that right now. And, like George Eastman, I believe you’ll be amazed with what develops!

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you. You are a Champion!

****************************************************

Since children are barraged by so much negative each day, wouldn’t it be valuable to give them a diet of positive thoughts? That’s what my new daily CD for children, The “30 Day Can Do Program for Kids,” does.

This is a great self-image-building program for children, 4 to 12 years of age. Each of the 2-minute daily messages is uplifting, encouraging, and the results are very positive.

How Do You Focus A Kayak

By Boaz · Comments (0)
Sunday, August 1st, 2010

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

The last time I experienced being a kayak was in Israel, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, when I was 8 years old.

Louise, a good friend of mine who lives right on Newport Harbor, in Newport Beach, California, re-introduced me recently to the great fun of kayaking.

There is a lesson about how one should row a kayak because it correlates to us setting goals in life.

When Louise and I took her two kayaks across Newport Harbor, she told me the following: “Kayaking is like life. You need a strong core. You need your belly button pointed toward the front of the kayak. That way you stay on balance all the time. Because, if you don’t, and you turn, it’s a fast lesson. You’re in the water. You’re wet.”

Isn’t that the same thing about life. When people take their eye off the goal, they can suddenly tip over and figuratively they can go under water.

Louise has been kayaking a long time and, since she keeps her belly button aimed toward the front of the kayak, she keeps going and she does it safely.

She has never fallen into Newport Harbor. She stated: “If you fall into Newport Harbor, the seals come after you.”

Again, just like life, there are sometimes figurative sharks that can come after us if we fall in the water.

So, this message is all about you setting goals and identifying exactly what you want.

During the current economic challenges, too many people are concerned about the “HOW”. If you’ve been a reader of this column for any length of time, you realize that I want you to focus on the “WHY” – a reward – a reason for you to do better.

If it’s a weekend trip away, or whatever you want to reward yourself with when you go to the next level, get a picture of it. Look at it the first thing every morning and the last thing every night.

That’s figuratively like you having your belly button pointed toward the front of the kayak. If you don’t, you could topple over. And, whenever you have a difficult moment, I would suggest that you get that picture out and just look at it. Refocus. “That’s why I’m working hard.”

I want you to achieve greatness. It’s not rocket science. You just simply have to identify something you can get excited about, get a picture of it, and look at it every day.

Don’t worry about the HOW. When the WHY is big enough, the HOW doesn’t matter.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. Keep your belly button pointed forward and you’ll achieve great things.

Have a powerful week!
