My Journey to Jerusalem

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

The other day, when I was somewhere on the East Coast, about to do a speaking engagement, I thought about setting goals. What if one of my goals – whether I’m a history buff, or a very religious person – what if one of my goals was to visit Jerusalem.

Let’s say that was one of my goals. And let’s say that I could just snap my fingers and suddenly be there? That’s exactly what I did that morning, just to see what might happen.

Shortly thereafter I found myself in Jerusalem. But, wait a minute. I was born in Israel. The Jerusalem I found myself in that day didn’t look like the Jerusalem I was used to.

The Jerusalem I was used to had a lot of historical and religious sites. Many of the buildings in the city were built out of the golden stone that is found in the nearby quarries. That’s what the real Jerusalem in Israel looks like. I was born there. I know.

But where was I? Wait a minute. I found myself in Jerusalem, Rhode Island. A beautiful fishing village in the southern edge of the state named Jerusalem.

Now what was wrong with my goal that day? I said I wanted to go to Jerusalem. But I wasn’t specific enough. I didn’t say which one. I didn’t realize that there was more than one. But there are.

Isn’t this a lesson about life? We set goals but we’re not specific. People say, “I want to be rich. I want to have a nice home.” They don’t write down specific details about the goal and then they get whatever the universe throws at them.

So, if you have a goal, write it down in specific details and you could end up at the right location as opposed to the wrong one. I did get to Jerusalem that day, but not the one I was looking for.

I want to make sure you get to the one you’re looking for.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. For speaking events, I can be reached at 619-723-3007.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

Do You Have A Someday

Since words are previews of things to come, I got to thinking the other day about the importance of words.

I was sitting on the porch of my apartment in Newport Beach, California, and glancing out on some beautiful surroundings. There are so many trees in my complex that the greenery creates a unique level of peacefulness.

Sometimes there are no words to describe the peacefulness that I feel here.

And, speaking about words, there is one word that all of us use, and I’ve been as guilty as anyone in the past of using this one word too much, and it doesn’t really help us.

The one word I’m talking about is SOMEDAY. We use it too much.

In my apartment complex there is a beautiful hiking trail. “Someday I’ll go take a hike on that trail.”

A couple of buildings over there is a exercise room. “Someday I will go over there and exercise regularly.”

“Someday I’ll get a hold of my finances and I’ll pay in cash and I’ll save some money. Someday I’ll pay off my debts.”

In my office, there is a calendar. I checked and I did not see a day of the week on that calendar called “Someday.” There is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. There is no “Someday.”

So, when we use the word “Someday,” the signal to the subconscious mind is that there is no commitment. Since there is no day of the week called “Someday,” there is no need for a commitment to a goal. Thus, there probably won’t be any achievement of an important goal.

May I suggest that we change from using the word “Someday” to using specific words like Today, This Week, This Month, and This Year.

So, instead of saying, “Someday I’ll take a hike down that trail in my complex,” how about “I’ll take a hike right after I finish writing this newsletter.”

And “Tomorrow morning, first thing, I’m going to go over to the exercise room in my complex and I’m going to exercise for 30 minutes on the treadmill.”

And “This week I will set a monthly budget that I will work toward so I can spend less than I earn.”

And “This month I will begin to pay off my debts.”

And “This year I will lose 20 pounds.”

The mind responds to specific words: Today, This Week, This Month, This Year. So, I encourage you, for things that you have wanted to change about you, to start using the words Today, This Week, This Month, This Year instead of Someday.

I believe that you’ll be amazed how much more productive you will be.

So, before I go off on my hike down the trail, which I’ve committed to you to do, let’s declare together that we no longer have a Someday on our calendar.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you – you are a Champion! Have a powerful day!

What if your child could learn how to set productive goals and get things done?

My new daily CD for children, The “30 Day Can Do Program for Kids,” is a very powerful, productive and positive way for kids, 4 to 12 years of age, to learn that and many other important concepts.

As a bonus to the CD, you will get the “Can Do Workbook”, a great e-book supplementary teaching tool to the daily 2-minute audio messages.

The “Can Do Program for Kids” CD is available, with the bonus e-book, for just $29, at the Boaz Power Store on my web site: Boazpower.com.

What If a Hurricane Came Through Your Life

On a recent speaking trip to Galveston, Texas, I learned about the extent of damage that Hurricane Ike caused when it smashed into that community at 2:10 in the morning on September 13, 2008.

However, in the time since that tragedy, I saw on my visit the amazing progress that the residents of Galveston have made.

The people of southeastern Texas are resilient. They get things done. They stand up and take action. As I drove around town, I was truly amazed with the progress they had made since Hurricane Ike.

I found the town alive and breathing and a wonderful place to come and visit for a vacation.

So, the message here is about getting things done.

We all, at one time or another, have a hurricane either literally or figuratively come through our lives and then we just don’t know what to do.

Well, the champions just start with step one.

So, if a house like one of the many new ones I saw being built in Galveston was demolished in a hurricane, the first step to recovery would be to pick up a piece of wood and put it in the trash. The idea is to pick up the mess and clean up.

That’s the first step.

Some things in life are tension-relieving while others are goal-achieving. So, I found when I was in a difficult situation, that if I focused on those goals that were goal-achieving, I went much further and I was able to make great progress.

Great power is generated when we take action quickly on something that has to be done, something that is goal-achieving.

I believe you do exactly that when you’re faced with a storm.
