How to Move Through Challenges

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

I was recently in New York City for a speaking engagement. I stopped by Ground Zero.

I had been to New York City many times in the past. It’s always a moving and stirring experience to visit the World Trade Center site.

There, on September 11, 2001, occurred the greatest one day tragedy in the history of the United States with the downing of the two World Trade Center buildings. Recently we saw the 10 year anniversary of that horrible tragedy in America.

I visited the site not long after 9-11. I visited again two or three years later. For a long time there was a huge, cavernous hole in the ground, where the buildings had been taken down all the way to the foundations.

And I wondered, how is something so horrible going to be turned into something that could be a meaningful memorial to those who perished, for their loved ones, and for the rest of the country?

Well, New York City has done it. At the 10th anniversary of 9-11, there was a great dedication to an amazing memorial.

The footprints of the two buildings, in the exact size of the World Trade Center towers, have been turned into two of the largest man-made waterfalls in the country. The names of those who perished are engraved around those waterfalls.

A park surrounds the waterfalls and there is a museum, which will be opened in the future.

A brand new building, called 1 World Trade Center, is going up and it will be the tallest building in America. It will rise 1,776 feet to the tip of its rooftop antenna, significant because of the history of the United States.

So, the message from the 9-11 site, to me, is this: How do you turn a very difficult, excruciating moment, into something more meaningful? How do you turn a huge hole in the ground into a meaningful memorial?

You do it one step at a time. There’s no way, over 10 years, to make all of that happen instantly. However, years of work, and years of planning, are turning the 9-11 scene into something very special.

What if you and I, in a very difficult moment in our lives, were to focus on the one step that we could take today? What is another step we could take tomorrow? Given enough time, chances are that we’ll be able to move through the moment.

I hope to see you this week on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

Recently, when I was in the Sarasota, Florida, area for two speaking engagements, I stopped by the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art on Ringling Plaza.

This area was literally the world headquarters for the circus. The Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.

Started in 1870 by a gentleman named Ringling, in Wisconsin, the circus eventually became a worldwide phenomenon. He had seven sons. His youngest son was John Ringling.

The other sons all participated in the circus. John was the one with business sense and he built the circus into a worldwide attraction.

In the winters, in nearby Venice, Florida, is where the circus had its winter home. John Ringling and his wife Mable brought a lot of culture to the Sarasota area. They built an art museum, which to this day still attracts many visitors. Behind the art museum is their incredible original home in the area. They had several other homes around the country. But, the one in Sarasota was magnificent.

The reason I want to talk to you about the circus is that all of us, these days, at one point or another, feel like our lives are like a circus.

There are three rings all around us. There are all kinds of challenges. We may feel like a ringmaster, trying to deal with all of the stress.

We have financial challenges, health and work challenges, and challenges with relationships. Sometimes it’s just a little too much as we try to keep all of those plates spinning.

What if we could focus on the most valuable thing first? Would that help us to ease up on the feeling of being in the middle of a circus? I think so.

When we think of too many things at one time, the mind goes around in circles and we’re not affective in any one direction. I want calm and peacefulness for you.

Declare the affirmation below, the first thing every morning and the last thing each night, and see how productive it can be. Let’s let the term “circus” mean a fun evening under the big top instead of too much stress.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.
If you wish to book me for a speaking event, my number is 619-723-3007.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

Recently, after a speaking event in Kansas City, I stopped by the Harley-Davidson motorcycle assembly plant near the Kansas City Airport.

At this particular Harley-Davidson plant they assemble the V-Rod. A few years ago, when the V-Rod was created, it was a brand new motorcycle. And it is an amazing motorcycle.

I’ve personally ridden it. It feels like a rocket ship when it’s in second gear.

I’ve toured the Kansas City Harley-Davidson plant. During that tour I noticed something amazing. The two top jobs at this plant are the test drivers. They wear leathers. They get to test drive the motorcycles.

What they do is they pick a couple of motorcycles off the final assembly line and drive them for 26 miles in the area surrounding the plant.

They then come back and do a thorough written report for a couple of hours. They make note of any slight defects or malfunctions that they feel should be fixed on those particular motorcycles.

They then do something that I found to be very interesting. They place little post-it notes on any areas of those motorcycles that need to be improved and then those motorcycles are placed in the company lunchroom so everyone could see them.

They don’t send reports to the people who worked on those motorcycles. They simply place the motorcycles with the post-it notes in the lunchroom for everyone to see.

How would you and I like it if we worked at that plant and we didn’t do our best on a motorcycle paint job and everyone saw it in the lunchroom?

There’s a lesson in life here.

What if you and I were very careful to do everything to the best of our ability as if someone was going to test drive it or check it out after we’re through?

I think we would strive for excellence every time. I think that could become our driving ambition!

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. If you wish to book me for a speaking event, my number is 619-723-3007.

The Foundation of Your Life

I recently traveled to Jacumba, California. There has been an active hot spring there for many years.

The area is about 70 miles east of San Diego, right by the Mexican border. The Sea of Cortez is to the south of the area, in Mexico, and to the north is The Salton Sea.

The reason I wanted to talk to you about that area, right by Interstate 8, is there are some very unusual geological formations in the there in the form of hills made up of large stones.

Most of the hills in the area are accumulations of large stones as if someone stacked them up. Maybe a million years ago, the Sea of Cortez receded back to Mexico. As it did so, perhaps it left these piles of large stones in the Jacumba area.

I noticed that the piles looked like pyramids. On many of the hills I saw one stone at the top and many other stones supporting it from the bottom. Isn’t that a lesson in our lives?

If we’ve achieved any kind of greatness, it’s usually because of other people helping us with a strong foundation. Those foundational people may be friends, relatives, co-workers or clients.

I suggest that we pay attention to those people and show them, on a regular basis, how important they are to us.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.

Creating New Opportunities

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

The other day I was in Miami, Florida. I travel to Florida on a regular basis because that is where I film my appearances for the Lifetime Television show called The Balancing Act. The program’s studios are in Pompano Beach, north of Miami. I appear every Wednesday morning on the program, 7-8 a.m. Eastern and Pacific.

I stopped by the Port of Miami, the largest port in the world for cruise ships. Miami is literally the world headquarters for cruising. Ships from that port head toward the Caribbean, the Bahamas, South America, and The Panama Canal.

The reason I wanted to talk to you about cruising is that all of us can create wonderful, unique ideas to solve problems, to create new opportunities.

Many years ago I wanted to take a cruise. However, a long time ago I was not in a position to financially afford to take a cruise. So, I spoke with a friend of mine. That friend had an idea – why don’t we call a cruise line. I was a speaker. They might want to have me as a speaker on a cruise.

Lo and behold, I got to go on a 14-day cruise to the Mexican Riviera. The cruise was all the way from Los Angeles to Acapulco, Mexico. It was fantastic and it cost me very little because I was a speaker on that cruise.

That is one way of solving a problem, of creating an opportunity by using the brain.

I believe that all of us can come up with unique, creative ideas to solve problems and create new opportunities.

We simply have to decide that we can do that. I believe that the affirmation below, stated out loud the first thing every morning and the last thing every night, will have a positive affect on your creativity.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you – you are a Champion! Have a powerful day!

Do You Hesitate

I spoke in Phoenix recently. Before heading for the airport, I stopped at Chandler, Arizona, about fifteen minutes south of downtown Phoenix.

There I found a wonderful and amazing attraction called “Rawhide”. At the entrance there are some wonderful bronze statues of cowboys on horses, replicating the Old West.

Rawhide in Chandler is an old-fashioned cowboy town, a huge complex where they have gunfights on main street and old-fashioned steak houses. It’s an incredible place to visit.

The reason I wanted to talk to you about the Old West is that gunfighters in the Old West lived or died depending on how quickly they made decisions.

If you ever saw the movie, years ago, called “The Magnificent Seven”, starring Yul Brynner, there is a scene in that movie where he is out in the countryside showing a young man how to draw fast.

Brynner played the seasoned gun fighter. The two of them were out shooting and the gunfighter, Brynner, would draw really fast and hit the bulls-eye, some can on top of a rock.

The young man asked the seasoned gunfighter how come he had lived so many years and not died on Main Street in a shootout.

Yul Brynner’s answer was profound. He said, “I don’t hesitate. I don’t hesitate.” Isn’t there a marvelous lesson there about life?

Champions make decisions quickly and change their minds slowly. Most other people make up their minds slowly and change their minds quickly. Next time you’re faced with a decision, think like a gunfighter and make a decision quickly. That’s what Champions do.

Coming up, October 7-8, is my two-day, power-packed Prosperity Summit with Mike Richardson in Newport Beach, California.

I hope to see you Wednesday’s on Lifetime Television, The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you, you are a Champion.

Your Thinking is Paramount

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

Note: Coming, October 7-8, is my power-packed, two-day Prosperity Seminar with Mike Richardson, in Newport Beach, California. Details to come.

When in Los Angeles recently for a speaking event, I stopped by Paramount Pictures on Melrose Avenue.

This is the longest running and only remaining major movie studio in Hollywood. Founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor, it has been the home of many famous movies and television shows.

Movies such as Titanic and television shows such as Frasier and Cheers all have been produced at Paramount. In fact, the first Academy Award for Picture of the Year was given to a Paramount picture in 1927.

The reason I want to talk to you about movies is that all of us, including you and me, we are producers and directors of our own movies that occur in our minds.

All of our minds run at the rate of about 1,500 words a minute. And, whether those words describe a good script or a bad script, is all up to each of us.

The type of movies that we run in our minds reflect the types of successes or failures that we may have in the future.

If we’re constantly putting in negative scripts into the movies in our minds, is it any wonder that negative things happen? So, I’m suggesting that, if you have some memories from the past that are not helping you, and you’re replaying those movies negatively in your mind, then take some time to quietly re-envision those movies as if they would have worked out in a much more positive way.

Just re-envision them. Overlay new pictures over old pictures. Do that long enough and I believe that you’ll be amazed with how productive this process will be.

I hope to see you this Wednesday morning on The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television, 7-8 a.m. Eastern and Pacific.

Taking a Race Car Toward Your Goals

After a recent speaking engagement in Indianapolis, I visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you drive through a tunnel, under the race track, you come to the infield where you’ll find the Motor Speedway’s museum.

If you ever visit the Speedway, you must go to this amazing museum. Inside you’ll find on display many of the cars that have won The Indy 500 during the past 100 years.

The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest sporting event in the world. Over 300,000 people come to view the race each year. For 2 1/2 hours they watch a lot of drivers go all out, at over 200 miles an hour, to win the race.

They don’t just try. They make every effort. They go all out for those 2 1/2 hours.

What if you and I were to go all out concerning our goals? Whether it deals with our health, our relationships, our finances, or our careers, what if we were to focus for 30 days on going all out, making every effort to achieve a certain goal?

I think we could win that very important race in our lives to achieve more. As the old saying goes, “Whatever the mind focuses on, expands.” Let’s focus on an important goal for a set period of time and see what happens.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. Coming, October 7-8, my Prosperity Summit with Mike Richardson in Newport Beach.

This is More Than a Junior Achievement

I recently spent three days doing speaking events in San Diego. During that time I had the opportunity to visit a most incredible and unusual place. It’s called Biz Town and its located inside the Junior Achievement headquarters for the San Diego area.

I met Joanne Pastula. She is the President and CEO of Junior Achievement in San Diego.

As I toured a modern, custom-built, two-story rendition of a business community, Joanne explained to me that we were in JA Biz Town. It is a program for 5th graders that enables them to come and run a real city for a day.

“This is kind of like going to Disneyland and running Disneyland. Except these kids, we have about 120 today, are actually running 21 different businesses as adults,” related Joanne.

I learned that day that Junior Achievement, in Biz Town, has a way of teaching the visiting youngsters how to pretend to be grownups. For example, there is a bank where the kids can get “money” which they can then spend in various stores.

As Joanne further explained to me, “The kids today have two jobs. They need to work in the business that they were hired to work in. We have 20 CEO’s, 20 CFO’s. We have doctors and attorneys. We have all kinds of people. And then the kids get paid for doing their job. They then get to go out on a break and spend money.”

I asked Joanne about such facilities in other parts of the world. She explained to me that Junior Achievement has 27 such facilities around the globe – two in Japan, one in London. Most of them are in the United States.

Biz Town in San Diego is the only one for Junior Achievement in California.

I was so impressed with what Joanne and Junior Achievement have created for these 5th graders in San Diego that I encourage you to get involved in your community. We can all find ways to mentor young people to help them grow up to be responsible and successful adults. Junior Achievement is a great way to do so.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.

My Journey to Jerusalem

By Boaz · Comments (1)
Sunday, July 17th, 2011

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

The other day, when I was somewhere on the East Coast, about to do a speaking engagement, I thought about setting goals. What if one of my goals – whether I’m a history buff, or a very religious person – what if one of my goals was to visit Jerusalem.

Let’s say that was one of my goals. And let’s say that I could just snap my fingers and suddenly be there? That’s exactly what I did that morning, just to see what might happen.

Shortly thereafter I found myself in Jerusalem. But, wait a minute. I was born in Israel. The Jerusalem I found myself in that day didn’t look like the Jerusalem I was used to.

The Jerusalem I was used to had a lot of historical and religious sites. Many of the buildings in the city were built out of the golden stone that is found in the nearby quarries. That’s what the real Jerusalem in Israel looks like. I was born there. I know.

But where was I? Wait a minute. I found myself in Jerusalem, Rhode Island. A beautiful fishing village in the southern edge of the state named Jerusalem.

Now what was wrong with my goal that day? I said I wanted to go to Jerusalem. But I wasn’t specific enough. I didn’t say which one. I didn’t realize that there was more than one. But there are.

Isn’t this a lesson about life? We set goals but we’re not specific. People say, “I want to be rich. I want to have a nice home.” They don’t write down specific details about the goal and then they get whatever the universe throws at them.

So, if you have a goal, write it down in specific details and you could end up at the right location as opposed to the wrong one. I did get to Jerusalem that day, but not the one I was looking for.

I want to make sure you get to the one you’re looking for.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. For speaking events, I can be reached at 619-723-3007.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!
