I spoke in Phoenix recently. Before heading for the airport, I stopped at Chandler, Arizona, about fifteen minutes south of downtown Phoenix.

There I found a wonderful and amazing attraction called “Rawhide”. At the entrance there are some wonderful bronze statues of cowboys on horses, replicating the Old West.

Rawhide in Chandler is an old-fashioned cowboy town, a huge complex where they have gunfights on main street and old-fashioned steak houses. It’s an incredible place to visit.

The reason I wanted to talk to you about the Old West is that gunfighters in the Old West lived or died depending on how quickly they made decisions.

If you ever saw the movie, years ago, called “The Magnificent Seven”, starring Yul Brynner, there is a scene in that movie where he is out in the countryside showing a young man how to draw fast.

Brynner played the seasoned gun fighter. The two of them were out shooting and the gunfighter, Brynner, would draw really fast and hit the bulls-eye, some can on top of a rock.

The young man asked the seasoned gunfighter how come he had lived so many years and not died on Main Street in a shootout.

Yul Brynner’s answer was profound. He said, “I don’t hesitate. I don’t hesitate.” Isn’t there a marvelous lesson there about life?

Champions make decisions quickly and change their minds slowly. Most other people make up their minds slowly and change their minds quickly. Next time you’re faced with a decision, think like a gunfighter and make a decision quickly. That’s what Champions do.

Coming up, October 7-8, is my two-day, power-packed Prosperity Summit with Mike Richardson in Newport Beach, California.

I hope to see you Wednesday’s on Lifetime Television, The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. I see it in you, you are a Champion.

Your Thinking is Paramount

Note: Coming, October 7-8, is my power-packed, two-day Prosperity Seminar with Mike Richardson, in Newport Beach, California. Details to come.

When in Los Angeles recently for a speaking event, I stopped by Paramount Pictures on Melrose Avenue.

This is the longest running and only remaining major movie studio in Hollywood. Founded in 1912 by Adolph Zukor, it has been the home of many famous movies and television shows.

Movies such as Titanic and television shows such as Frasier and Cheers all have been produced at Paramount. In fact, the first Academy Award for Picture of the Year was given to a Paramount picture in 1927.

The reason I want to talk to you about movies is that all of us, including you and me, we are producers and directors of our own movies that occur in our minds.

All of our minds run at the rate of about 1,500 words a minute. And, whether those words describe a good script or a bad script, is all up to each of us.

The type of movies that we run in our minds reflect the types of successes or failures that we may have in the future.

If we’re constantly putting in negative scripts into the movies in our minds, is it any wonder that negative things happen? So, I’m suggesting that, if you have some memories from the past that are not helping you, and you’re replaying those movies negatively in your mind, then take some time to quietly re-envision those movies as if they would have worked out in a much more positive way.

Just re-envision them. Overlay new pictures over old pictures. Do that long enough and I believe that you’ll be amazed with how productive this process will be.

I hope to see you this Wednesday morning on The Balancing Act on Lifetime Television, 7-8 a.m. Eastern and Pacific.

Taking a Race Car Toward Your Goals

After a recent speaking engagement in Indianapolis, I visited the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you drive through a tunnel, under the race track, you come to the infield where you’ll find the Motor Speedway’s museum.

If you ever visit the Speedway, you must go to this amazing museum. Inside you’ll find on display many of the cars that have won The Indy 500 during the past 100 years.

The Indianapolis 500 is the biggest sporting event in the world. Over 300,000 people come to view the race each year. For 2 1/2 hours they watch a lot of drivers go all out, at over 200 miles an hour, to win the race.

They don’t just try. They make every effort. They go all out for those 2 1/2 hours.

What if you and I were to go all out concerning our goals? Whether it deals with our health, our relationships, our finances, or our careers, what if we were to focus for 30 days on going all out, making every effort to achieve a certain goal?

I think we could win that very important race in our lives to achieve more. As the old saying goes, “Whatever the mind focuses on, expands.” Let’s focus on an important goal for a set period of time and see what happens.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. Coming, October 7-8, my Prosperity Summit with Mike Richardson in Newport Beach.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

This is More Than a Junior Achievement

I recently spent three days doing speaking events in San Diego. During that time I had the opportunity to visit a most incredible and unusual place. It’s called Biz Town and its located inside the Junior Achievement headquarters for the San Diego area.

I met Joanne Pastula. She is the President and CEO of Junior Achievement in San Diego.

As I toured a modern, custom-built, two-story rendition of a business community, Joanne explained to me that we were in JA Biz Town. It is a program for 5th graders that enables them to come and run a real city for a day.

“This is kind of like going to Disneyland and running Disneyland. Except these kids, we have about 120 today, are actually running 21 different businesses as adults,” related Joanne.

I learned that day that Junior Achievement, in Biz Town, has a way of teaching the visiting youngsters how to pretend to be grownups. For example, there is a bank where the kids can get “money” which they can then spend in various stores.

As Joanne further explained to me, “The kids today have two jobs. They need to work in the business that they were hired to work in. We have 20 CEO’s, 20 CFO’s. We have doctors and attorneys. We have all kinds of people. And then the kids get paid for doing their job. They then get to go out on a break and spend money.”

I asked Joanne about such facilities in other parts of the world. She explained to me that Junior Achievement has 27 such facilities around the globe – two in Japan, one in London. Most of them are in the United States.

Biz Town in San Diego is the only one for Junior Achievement in California.

I was so impressed with what Joanne and Junior Achievement have created for these 5th graders in San Diego that I encourage you to get involved in your community. We can all find ways to mentor young people to help them grow up to be responsible and successful adults. Junior Achievement is a great way to do so.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.
If you wish to book me for a speaking event, my number is 619-723-3007.

My Journey to Jerusalem

By Boaz · Comments (1)

CLICK HERE TO “TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL”

The other day, when I was somewhere on the East Coast, about to do a speaking engagement, I thought about setting goals. What if one of my goals – whether I’m a history buff, or a very religious person – what if one of my goals was to visit Jerusalem.

Let’s say that was one of my goals. And let’s say that I could just snap my fingers and suddenly be there? That’s exactly what I did that morning, just to see what might happen.

Shortly thereafter I found myself in Jerusalem. But, wait a minute. I was born in Israel. The Jerusalem I found myself in that day didn’t look like the Jerusalem I was used to.

The Jerusalem I was used to had a lot of historical and religious sites. Many of the buildings in the city were built out of the golden stone that is found in the nearby quarries. That’s what the real Jerusalem in Israel looks like. I was born there. I know.

But where was I? Wait a minute. I found myself in Jerusalem, Rhode Island. A beautiful fishing village in the southern edge of the state named Jerusalem.

Now what was wrong with my goal that day? I said I wanted to go to Jerusalem. But I wasn’t specific enough. I didn’t say which one. I didn’t realize that there was more than one. But there are.

Isn’t this a lesson about life? We set goals but we’re not specific. People say, “I want to be rich. I want to have a nice home.” They don’t write down specific details about the goal and then they get whatever the universe throws at them.

So, if you have a goal, write it down in specific details and you could end up at the right location as opposed to the wrong one. I did get to Jerusalem that day, but not the one I was looking for.

I want to make sure you get to the one you’re looking for.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. For speaking events, I can be reached at 619-723-3007.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

It’s Not Quicksand Everywhere

Outside of Leavenworth, Washington, there is a beautiful place called The Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort. I recently spoke there for a very nice group of people.

This is an incredibly beautiful spot in the world. There are majestic trees, a beautiful meandering creek and, in the background, there are snow-capped mountains.

This is 67 acres that were bought in 1991 by a lady named Harriet Bullitt. She had been brought to the area when she was just six years old, beginning in 1931. Today this lady is 85 years young and still going strong.

Harriet Bullitt developed the entire Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort because she thought the area was so beautiful and should be preserved and enjoyed by many people.

The thing I liked about the resort is that it reminded me of certain things that are solid in our lives. This year there have been many things that have made our lives feel shaky – like tsunami’s, hurricanes, tornados, the economy – all kinds of things that made us feel as if we’re literally walking on quicksand.

I think it’s important, during these times, for us to think about certain things that are solid in our lives. Certain things that are not going anywhere.

The beautiful Sleeping Lady Resort, with its majestic trees, is not going anywhere. The snow-capped mountains I saw there are not going anywhere. The beautiful stream I saw there, other than the water flowing, is not going anywhere.

And, what is most important in our lives, that I believe we should focus on that is solid, is the relationships that we cherish. Even if there is just one person in life who cares about you, that is something solid.

Thus, for this message, I’m suggesting that we focus on what is solid, what isn’t going anywhere, and not spend quite so much time thinking about other things that make us feel as if we’re on shaky ground.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time. If you wish to book me for a speaking engagement, my number is 619-723-3007.

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. You are a Champion!

Your Personal Hall of Fame

After a speaking engagement the other day, in Cleveland, I stopped by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s located in the downtown area and right on the shore of Lake Erie.

It was at the Cleveland Arena, on March 21, 1952, where the first rock concert took place. That’s why it seems appropriate that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame should be located in that city.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was officially opened in 1995 and now visitors come from all of the world to see mementos from top performers who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

All of us, in our own lives, can literally have our own hall of fame. What if we looked at our lives as an adventure, one series after another? What if we made our very best effort, on any given day, with the idea that one day we could be inducted into our personal hall of fame?

If we took that thought seriously, would we do something more each day? Would we go the extra mile? Would we try a little harder? I think we would.

In the Napoleon Hill book, “Think and Grow Rich”, he said “go the extra mile.” His idea was to do a little more than is expected of us and amazing things will happen.

What if we had two people, working in the same industry, with similar backgrounds, and similar educations, but one was earning twice as much money as the other? What was the one earning more money doing? Was that person putting out twice as much effort?
No. The one earning twice as much put out just 10% more effort than the other. Going the extra mile, with 10% more effort, will often get us 100% more in results.

I suggest we all make that extra effort to get into our Personal Hall of Fame.

I hope to see you Wednesday morning on Lifetime Television on The Balancing Act, 7-8 a.m. Easter and Pacific time.

For speaking engagements, I can be reached at 619-723-3007.

Making People Feel Important

Note: If you’re part of a national or trade association, how UNBELIEVABLY awesome could their large event be if I was the speaker and you got the credit for recommending me?

I was recently in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for two speaking engagements. On my way to one of those events, I stopped by Miller Field, where the Milwaukee Brewers play baseball.

Miller Field is an amazing engineering feat. That stadium has a roof that opens and closes like an old-fashioned Chinese hand-held fan. It opens and closes.

The reason I want to talk to you about baseball is that Miller Field took me back to 1956, when I was 9 years old, in Israel, and my family was about to immigrate to America.

My uncles in New York sent my brother and me a couple of yellow T-shirts. On the T-shirts there was an illustration of a man with a bat and a ball and some large lettering in English.

We did not know anything about the game of baseball at the time and could not read any English. However, it didn’t matter. Those T-shirts were from America. And, when my brother and I wore those T-shirts to school, kids wanted to touch them because they were from America.

Those T-shirts made us feel important. They were something special that our uncles had done for us and they made us feel important.

So, my suggestion for all of us is to look for ways to do something nice for someone else that will make them feel important. Everybody wants to feel important – including you and me.

It is said that people will do more for a feeling of importance than they will for money.

We all crave to feel important. What can each of us do about that today?

You are special. You are unique. You are destined for greatness. Have a powerful day!

I’ll see you Wednesday morning on the Lifetime Television program The Balancing Act, 7 to 8 a.m. Eastern and Pacific.
